SHOW ME SHOOTOUT 2008

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Do I need an invitation or recommendation to play in the Show Me Shootout?
No, The Show Me Shootout is open to all high school players grade 9-12.  The total enrollment for the shootout is limited to the first 60 players.  You can access a copy of the shootout flyer on this website.  You will need a copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader available free from adobe.com   You can also call us at (573) 291-4819 and we will get you an entry.
2. Can I register and/or pay the day of the shootout?
No, because information on participating players will be printed and part of a college coaches' packet.  These materials will be sent to the printer the week of the event.  Keep in mind that only 60 spots are available for The Show Me Shootout.  Our last events were full.
3. Will NCAA Division I coaches be present at The Show Me Shootout?
Current NCAA rules prohibit Division I coaches from attending all spring shootout events in Missouri.  HOWEVER scouting services subscribed to by Division I programs WILL BE IN ATTENDANCE.  If you can play to a DI level, your name will get out to Division I coaches.
4. What Colleges will be in attendance?
We expect a number of Division II, III, Junior College, and NAIA coaches to be in attendance, along with several scouting services.

5. What is the Unsigned Senior Game?  What is the three pass rule?
The Show Me Shootout will provide an extra game for Unsigned Seniors only. This game for seniors only will be in addition to our normal three game series at no extra cost to senior participants.  The three pass rule is used to encourage all shootout participants to share the ball.  The three pass rule is used on all half court possessions.

6. I am already attending a shootout.  Why should I enter another?
We encourage you to enter as many events as possible.  1) With the limited number of evaluation days for college coaches, shootout participation is a must. Coaches like to view a number of prospects in a competitive "open setting"  2) The more competitive events you play, the more comfortable you become to excel to your highest level of play. 3) Sharpen your skills against competition on a higher level.4)  Finally, beauty is in the eye of the beholder...play well in front of the right coach and you can virtually write your own ticket!
7.  What about playing time?
There will be no more than 10 players on each team roster. All 10 players are guaranteed equal amounts of playing time.
8. What about defense, offense, coaches and officials?
All teams play man to man defense, offense in a shootout event should be a basic motion offense. Coaches will be assigned from the Show Me Shootout Staff, and basically assure that all players receive equal playing time.  Officials will be high school officials.
9. Can I choose what team I can play on?
We will do everything possible to accommodate your request, please fill out on the entry blank what players you would like to play with, however keep in mind that we need competitive balance for this event.
10. Are there individual awards for this event?
This is an evaluation event.  There are no individual awards.  Your reward could be playing on the next level after high school!
11.  Where is Fulton and how do you get there?
Fulton, Missouri is easy to get to and only several miles from Interstate 70, approximately 20 miles east of Columbia, Missouri.  Maps to gym locations will be posted on the website in mid March, or call us for directions (573) 291-4819.
